2015 Award Winners

The 2015 season was another great summer for Baseball! Baseball NB would like to thank and congratulate all the players, coaches, umpires and volunteers on another great year!!
We would also like to tip our cap to this year’s award winners;
Minor Player of the Year: Sam Lund (21U Metro Mudcats)
Sam Lund had a great season on the mound for the Metro Mudcats. Sam completed the regular season with a 4-1 record, 3 saves, 49 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.73. During the Junior League Playoffs Sam continued his dominant season with a 3-0 record, another 40 strikeouts and an ERA of 0.875. Sam was also called up during the Senior League playoffs for the Moncton Fishercats where he went 2-0 with an ERA of 1.34 and another 14 strikeouts, giving Sam a total of 103 strikeouts on the season.
Adult Player of the Year: Jody Peterson (Fredericton Senior Royals)
Jody Peterson of the Fredericton Senior Royals had another great season at the plate. He is the first player in Senior League history to reach 4 batting titles (2002, 2007, 2009 and 2015). Jody completed the season with 8 Home runs, 23 runs batted in and a 0.455 average. Jody was also named senior league MVP and All Star First Basemen.
Coach of the Year: Patrick Tardif (15U AAA Dieppe Cardinals)
As head coach, Patrick Tardif, lead the 15U AAA Dieppe Cardinals to a Provincial Championship and defeated Try County, Nova Scotia in the 15U AAA Atlantics to bring home Dieppe’s first Atlantic Championship. Patrick was also member of the Metro Mudcats 18U AAA coaching staff whom brought home a 18U AAA Provincial title and a Baseball Canada 18U National bronze medal.
Paul Tubby Melanson Volunteer of the Year Award: Tim O’Hara
Tim O’hara took over as President of the Fredericton Minor Baseball Association for the 2015 season all while maintaining a coaching position with the 15U AAA Royals. Tim also played a key role in organizing the 13U team from Fredericton who travelled to Cuba on a Goodwill tour in February 2015 and assisted in raising $10,000 in baseball equipment and school supplies for children in Cuba.
These awards along with others will be presented during the 2015 Baseball NB Hall of Fame Ceremony and Awards Banquet will be held at the Delta Fredericton on Saturday October 17th with a meet and greet starting at 6:30pm with the ceremony commencing at 7:30pm. Light snacks will be served during the meet and greet. Tickets for this year’s event are available by contacting the Baseball NB office at 506-451-1329. Cost is $30 per ticket.
